Sammy Pérez Hults Conquers Master of the Ocean 2026 in an Epic Battle Across Water Sports Disciplines

The waves, wind, and adrenaline once again came together to write a new chapter in the history of Master of the Ocean 2026, the Caribbean’s most demanding multidisciplinary competition. After several days of intense action on the water, Dominican athlete Sammy Pérez Hults was crowned Overall Champion, demonstrating extraordinary versatility and commanding performance across the different disciplines that make up this prestigious event.

From the first heat to the last, the athletes had to demonstrate endurance, technique, the ability to read changing conditions, and a highly competitive mindset to take on disciplines as diverse as SUP, Surf, Windsurf, Kitesurf, and Wing Foil. In this setting, Sammy Pérez Hults, an Olympic windsurfer from the Dominican Republic, delivered an outstanding performance, accumulating 3,200 points through victories in SUP and Windsurf, along with strong results in the remaining events, securing first place in the overall ranking.

The battle for the podium featured an exceptionally high international level. France’s Maxime LHuillier took second place Overall with 2,997 points, standing out especially in Kitesurf and Wing Foil. Germany’s Jan Malte Claus completed the podium with 2,795 points, becoming one of the championship’s most consistent competitors and showing complete command in Surf.

Another German representative, Yannick Mittas, finished in fourth place with 2,415 points thanks to an outstanding performance in Wing Foil, while Dominican athlete Joselito del Rosario rounded out the Overall Top 5 with 2,190 points, propelled by a decisive Kitesurf victory that thrilled the fans on the beach.

The team competition also delivered a first-class spectacle. Team Germany claimed top honors with 3,480 points, backed by consistent performances across all disciplines. Team Dream finished second with 3,195 points, followed closely by Kite Beach Center in third with 3,105 points. Fourth place went to Inspire DR, which accumulated 2,707 points after leading the SUP standings.

With changing conditions, radical maneuvers, long runs, and highly physically demanding competition, Master of the Ocean once again confirmed why it is considered the ultimate challenge for watermen and waterwomen, rewarding the most complete athlete on the water and bringing together some of the world’s top wind and wave sports competitors.

Master of the Ocean is supported by the German Embassy in Santo Domingo, Edelweiss Air, Copa Airlines, Millennium Resort & Spa, Viva Resorts by Wyndham, Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & Spa, Hotel Kaoba, Fixo Cargo, and Banco Lafise. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, the Central Directorate of Tourism Police, Viva Resorts by Wyndham, and the National Center for the Promotion and Development of Non-Profit Associations, as well as other public and private entities committed to sustainable tourism and the growth of water sports in the Dominican Republic.

Remaining Overall Category Rankings

From sixth through sixteenth place, Master of the Ocean 2026 featured an outstanding group of athletes who demonstrated a high competitive level and a strong ability to adapt to the demands of all five disciplines.

British athlete Tom Court finished sixth Overall with 1,990 points, once again demonstrating his international experience with a strong performance in Surf. Close behind, Dominican athlete Francis González finished seventh with 1,985 points, standing out for his consistency and for reaching the Surf podium.

Germany’s Lucas Matthes finished eighth with 1,810 points, maintaining a balanced performance across all disciplines, while Britain’s “Mad Max” Tullet placed ninth with 1,627 points and stood out especially in Kitesurf, where he ranked among the category’s best. Rounding out the Top 10, legendary Barbadian athlete Brian Talma “Action Man” finished tenth with 1,599 points, showcasing his extensive Windsurf experience.

Estonian waterwoman Marija Kivistik took eleventh place with 1,430 points thanks to consistent performances across all events, followed by Peru’s Deni Blondet in twelfth with 1,394 points, demonstrating strength and competitiveness throughout each day of competition.

Puerto Rico’s Nelson Pérez finished thirteenth with 1,336 points, standing out particularly in Windsurf, while American Jeremy Green finished fourteenth with 1,255 points, maintaining a steady performance throughout the championship.

James Green, also from the United States, finished fifteenth with 1,171 points, bringing intensity and commitment to every heat he competed in. Closing out the overall standings, Britain’s Andrew Court finished sixteenth with 1,105 points, demonstrating perseverance and competitive spirit through the final day of competition. All of these athletes helped raise the level of the event and further established Master of the Ocean as the ultimate test for the most complete athletes in wind and wave sports.

Remaining Team Category Rankings

From fifth through eighth place in the team competition, the event maintained a high level of intensity and showcased the depth of talent at Master of the Ocean 2026. PhysicalExam finished fifth with 2,367 points, supported by an outstanding performance in Windsurf, where the team achieved the highest score in its category, confirming its strength in windy conditions.

Team Blue Wave finished sixth with 1,527 points, showing consistency and balance across all five disciplines and remaining competitive throughout the championship.

Team Action finished close behind in seventh with 1,454 points, standing out especially in SUP thanks to a strong collective strategy that kept the team in contention for higher positions. Rounding out the standings, Ocean Athletes finished eighth with 1,452 points, just two points behind Team Action, demonstrating a strong ability to adapt across wind and wave disciplines.

Each of these teams contributed spectacle, competitive spirit, and valuable teamwork, helping make this one of the closest and most exciting editions of Master of the Ocean!
